Women in Philantrophy

Women are a rising force in philanthropy. There is no arguing that.

This is evident in a recently published article in the Howard Magazine about our own Women's Giving Circle of Howard County. http://tinyurl.com/q5q7hz

There has been a recent increase of Women's Giving Circle's across the country. According to a report released in June 2009, by the Foundation Center and the Women's Funding Network, it showed that "foundation giving specifically targeted to benefit women and girls has surpassed the rate of overall foundation giving in recent years, and women's funds are a rapidly growing and influential force within philanthropy."

What is a Women's Giving Circle, you ask? Well,
it is a community of women philanthropists who are strategically pooling funds and leveraging dollars to help women and girls, in my case, in Howard County. The WGC (of Howard County) raises money and makes grants to fund organizations that provide direct services in the community.

  1. Good luck Mary! You will find this fun and a bit challenging some times...I haven't been as good with blogging regularly but find it a fun outlet nonetheless.
